Maria Eugenia Mata Garcia

Maria Eugenia Mata Garcia, Licentiate in Theology, studied in the Instituto Teologico de Estudios Superiores (ITES). She has been working in the social arena for 27 years, and is the co-founder of three civil organizations. She is an active participant in various National Councils of Civil Organizations networks including Alianza Civica and Movimiento Ciudadano por la Democracia. She has also worked with a number of Mexican organizations such as Centro de Apoyo al Movimiento Popular Oaxaqueño (CAMPO), is co-founder and part of the directive Civil Association, as well as coordinator for programs in promotion, equity for women and strengthening of civil society. She has worked at Vamos FDS, A.C. as a Programs Director since 2002. She coordinates the arrangement and instrumentation of all programs and strengthens the relationships with social and civil organizations, of which Vamos is a beneficiary. She is also part of the Dirección Colegiada of Vamos and an active member of the Directive Council of the foundation. Additionally se is the proprietary electoral advisor to the state of Oaxaca for the Federal Institute in Oaxaca, a post she held from 1999 to 2003.

Vamos Foundation (Vamos FDS A.C.) is a Civil Society Foundation, created in 1996 by 60 civil organization's leaders with more than 30 years of experience in social projects. The Foundation's mission is to mobilize and generate resources to strengthen initiatives that contribute to the construction of social justice. Its objectives are to generate social investment models that empower people, improve living conditions and create sustainable development; to establish alliances that create alternative social actions; and to promote innovative actions which create a culture of social responsibility. Ordinary people are the protagonists of the projects that Vamos supports. Vamos conducts programs that support grassroot initiatives that build micro-regional development, social enterprise and children and youth. The Foundation focuses on technical, strategic and methodological transfers. Vamos also promotes the construction of strategic alliances and a new culture of social responsibility among businesses, government agencies, ordinary people and civil society organizations.
