Marilou G. Erni is the Executive Director of the Petron Foundation, Inc., which was created by Petron Corporation to implement its commitment “to take excellent care of the community and the environment.”
Previously she was Petron’s public relations manager and head of training and organizational development. Her efforts to promote employee volunteerism within Petron through a program called Volunteerism in Action have resulted in various prestigious recognitions, such as the Anvil Awards of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines; the Philippine Gold Quill Awards of Excellence and Gold Quill International Awards of Excellence and Merit from the International Association of Business Communicators; and the United Way International Certificate of Excellence.
Complementing her responsibilities at the Petron Foundation is her active involvement in the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF), where she was the president of the League in 2003 and 2004, and is currently the chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Exposition, a banner program of the LCF that is held annually.
Ms. Erni is also the president of the Bataan Coastal Care Foundation, where she spearheads the Integrated Coastal Management Program for Bataan. This program constitutes a significant component of the UNDP-led Manila Bay Environmental Management Project.
She is also an active member of the Philippine Business for Social Progress-Luzon Regional Committee (PBSB), and sits as an alternate of the Petron chairman on the Board of Trustees of the PBSP and the Junior Achievement-Philippines.
Ms. Erni has a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service from the University of the Philippines and has taken graduate courses in public administration and industrial relations.
