With his current work focusing on Strategic Planning; Effective Boards; Institutional Building; Design and deployment of social programs, Guillermo Carvajalino Sanchez was previously Executive Director of the Foundation of Businesspeople for Education (Fundación Empresarios por la Educación), whose mission is to impact positively on the quality, reach and efficiency of the public education system in Colombia.
Previously, Mr. Carvajalino served as the Executive Director of the Corona Foundation in Bogotá, Colombia from 1998-2003. Prior to that, he worked in the areas of social science policy analysis and design in the public sector at the National Planning Department, the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare, and the Foundation for Higher Education.
Mr. Carvajalino is a board member at the Center for Hospital Management, Corpo-educación, the Corporation Gustavo Matamoros, the Corporation for Excellence in Justice, the Compartir Financial Corporation, and CENPRO T.V. As a Synergos Senior Fellow, Mr. Carvajalino shares his expertise in the areas of governance, program design and financial sustainability.
Mr. Carvajalino holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from both the Complutense University in Madrid, in Spain and the Santo Tomas University in Bogotá, Colombia.
The Foundation of Bussinesspeople for Education was legally constituted as a non-profit in 2002, and strives to improve the education of Colombia’s poorest citizens. A total of 90 companies and businessmen from all over the country and from a variety of economic sectors have become involved with the initiative.
