In the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6, Synergos has received numerous suggestions for emergency and relief projects from our local Global Philanthropists Circle members. If you would like to help, we have listed these recommendations below.
- AÇEV, a Turkish organization applying their expertise in working with vulnerable children and their families to tend to immediate humanitarian needs, as well as provide systematic basic services and long-term rehabilitation
- AFAD, Turkey’s official Disaster and Emergency Management Organization
- AHBAP Platform, a voluntary network working for disaster emergency
- AKUT, a voluntary search, assist and rescue organization
- Hayata Destek / Support to Life, a Turkish independent humanitarian organization especially working for emergency assistance and refugee support
- Maya Vakfı, a Turkish foundation promoting psychosocial and mental health support in affected cities
- Mozaik Foundation Emergency Relief Fund
- Türk Kızılay, the Turkish Red Crescent
- Turkish Philanthropy Funds in New York, who launched an earthquake appeal
- The International Rescue Committee, who is providing financial support to local aid organizations in Syria and Turkey, sending emergency supplies, giving displaced people and vulnerable host communities emergency cash, and setting up safe spaces for women and children
- The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) Foundation, a global medical relief organization providing emergency care for earthquake victims and supporting medical facilities in the affected region of northwest Syria
- The White Helmets, also known as Syria Civil Defence, a volunteer organization in Syria that is surveying affected areas for safety, removing rubble, reopening roads, and sending healthcare professionals to provide medical and psychological care to those without homes.
