The Spiritual Civilization group underwent almost a 2-year evaluation process supported by the John D. Templeton Foundation that was completed in December 2016. The purpose of the evaluation was to reflect and analyse this affinity group that was formed within the GPC members themselves, focusing on improvement of awareness and joint work towards creating greater good through ideals such as compassion, altruism, love and ethics. The evaluation brought findings on the development and direction of the affinity group towards better spiritual consciousness and more effective giving.
The analysis of the members´ insights revealed the key elements of the spiritual journey of the members: self-awareness (roots), personal practices (stem) and impact (branches, leaves, fruits), the space that brings the collective together (the forest).
Members demonstrated that being a part of such a group helps them increase their impact by simply being able to go deeper in their awareness and their practice. Research showed improvement in several parameters (co-creating platforms, developing others, integrating spirituality in philanthropic work and the depth of practice), comparing the baseline and the final evaluation period:
Members reflected on their experience in following areas: Self-exploration (Awareness), Space (safe-space for deeper exploration) Sangha (Relationships with fellow practitioners) and Serving others (creating impact in their work and context).
Most (90%) respondents find that their practices ‘frequently/ almost always’, help them in relating with others and increasing their self-awareness.
