Monica Mutuku is the former head of the East Africa Association of Grantmakers (EAAG), an initiative of a group of trusts and foundations working in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya who came together to form a membership organization for grantmaking bodies across the region.
Prior to EAAG, Ms. Mutuku was the chief executive officer of the Kenya Community Development Foundation, a position she held since 1996. She has over several years of experience in the field of development, with extensive involvement in the planning and design of a wide range of development programs.
In 2000, the American Biographical Institute selected her as Woman of the Year and nominated her as an Exceptional Woman of the 21st Century.
Ms. Mutuku holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in social development and administration from the University College in Swansea and a Masters of Science degree in urban development planning from University College in London.
The EAAG's mission is to nurture and enhance a culture of local philanthropy through the growth of a vibrant membership to improve the lives of the peoples of East Africa.
