Julio Tan

Synergos Senior Fellow & MANAGING TRUSTEE AT THE CENTER FOR EMPOWERMENT AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT INC. (CERD)

Julio Tan is the Managing Trustee at the Center for Empowerment and Resource Development (CERD) in the Philippines. The CERD is a non-governmental organisation focusing on the needs of fisherfolks to effectively manage marine and coastal resources on which their livelihoods depend. Julio is responsible for coaching and mentoring programme staff in Community-Based Coastal Resources Management, Ecological Approaches to Fisheries Management, Biodiversity Conservation, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation, Gender Mainstreaming and Community Development

He previously served as the Executive Director of the Foundation for the Philippine Environment , a grant-making institution based in Quezón City, Philippines. The Foundation was established in 1992 to reverse the rapid destruction of the Philippine natural resource base through a strategic and integrated conservation program.

As a Synergos Senior Fellow, he brings expertise in the areas of governance and institutional development as well as program operations.
