Maggie Fried

Maggie Fried is Manager, Strategic Initiatives at Synergos. In her role she provides direct support for the work of the President, Chair of the Board, and Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Synergos in December 2014, she served as an international fellow for the Joint Distribution Committee in Gondar, Ethiopia, where she facilitated the organization’s education, health, and clean water initiatives. In her free time she worked with community members to establish a gender empowerment program and a partnership between the local hospital and a women’s HIV support group. Before moving to Ethiopia, Maggie worked at the American Jewish Committee in New York City as the Director of Thanks To Scandinavia and Assistant Director of ACCESS NY, AJC’s next generation program. In these roles she advanced both institutes’ local and global engagement initiatives through program and partnership development. Outside of her work at Synergos, Maggie volunteers as Deputy Director of Programming for Young Professionals in Foreign Policy NY, an organization that she has been involved with several years.

Maggie earned a Master’s degree in Global Politics and Global Civil Society from the London School of Economics, and during her time there served as the founding editor of LSE’s first student-produced human rights journal. She graduated summa cum laude from Colgate University with a B.A. in History and Peace and Conflict Studies.
