Joanna Hoffman

Joanna Hoffman, Coordinator, Partnerships, joined Synergos staff in September 2007. She is a current graduate student at New York University, obtaining her M.P.A. in International Public Policy and Nonprofit Management. Prior to joining Synergos, she worked in Maryland in the violence-against-women field both on the policy and grassroots levels. At the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault, she authored a statewide manual on effective college and university response to violence against women. She then worked as a Client Support Counselor at the Domestic Violence Center of Howard County, Inc., where she served as the Chair of the Writing Committee and worked to develop a transgender-inclusive shelter policy. She is particularly interested in promoting inclusiveness and capacity-building within international development efforts. She holds a B.A. in Modern Languages and Linguistics, with a focus on Spanish, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and has studied in Barcelona, Spain and Accra, Ghana.
