Hendrina Chalwe Doroba

Ms. Hendrina Doroba is the acting Executive Director the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE - www.fawe.org), a pan-African NGO that works to influence governments, international organizations, and local communities to enact policies and provide positive learning environments that treat girls and boys equally. Comprised of a network of 34 national chapters across sub-Saharan Africa, FAWE has developed gender-responsive practices and models over the years that could lead to noteworthy advances in educational quality and gender equity in Africa over the next decade if adopted across the region.

Ms. Doroba has held various positions in the international development arena, including the Irish Embassy in Zambia. Before joining FAWE, she worked for OXFAM as a national coordinator for the Commonwealth Education Fund, which supported local NGOs working in education advocacy and lobby work at national, district and community levels. Ms. Doroba holds degrees in Education Administration from the National University of Ireland, Dublin (MA), and the University of Melbourne, Australia (B.Ed), and started her professional career as a teacher of secondary school mathematics and geography, and an in-service provider within the Ministry of Education in Zambia.
